Whether you're golfing, mountain biking or pounding pavement on a training run at dawn, you can't maintain peak performance unless your eyes keep up with your environment. That's why Oakley have partnered with Transitions Optical to create lenses that darken and lighten automatically. They help you adapt to changing light conditions while filtering out 100% of ultraviolet light (UV). Not to mention the added confidence of having lenses that aren't too dark when the sun pulls a disappearing act, or too light when it knifes through the clouds.

The Oakley Activated by Transitions™ sunglass lenses will initially be available in two performance colours including Oakley's VR50™ and Black Persimmon. As UV light exposure increases, the base lens darkens automatically to maintain a precisely tuned level of light transmission - from overcast/flat light to bright sun - ensuring visual acuity is optimized. Additionally, the balanced light transmission helps to boost visual contrast, enhancing depth perception, a key performance benefit that improves visual quality and comfort.

Oakley TIME TANK™ will be available with a genuine leather strap or a titanium bracelet with the fit of micro-adjusting links and the flexibility of self-lubricating thrust washers, reinforced with carbon fiber. The hardest crystal utilized in timepiece creation, pure sapphire, protects the six-hand display and is augmented by an anti-reflective coating designed to improve readability in various light conditions. A screw-down crown seals the case against water pressure equivalent to 330 feet (100 meters) beneath the surface.

The intuitive analog display includes three separate sub dials measuring cumulative time, intermediate time and split time, all down to a tenth of a second. Luminous phosphors on the minute and hour hands improve visibility in low light, and the large date display can be read at a glance. A quartz oscillator cycles 32,768 times per second to calibrate the two-pole step motor, and the drive system is powered with the endurance of a 48-month battery. Oakley TIME TANK™ is expected to be available during the Summer of 2006. (June/July/August)
